A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO YOUR FALL PERENNIAL GARDEN

The Autumn Joy sedum is a delightful blooming fall perennial.  This plant is dependable, easy to care for, and quite adaptable. It, combined with asters and mums, can keep your flower gardens bright and colorful all the way until that hard frost.

BLOOMS AND FOLIAGE

The Autumn Joy sedum’s flowers bloom from August into November; opening  pink and maturing to a nice, fall-like copper. Autumn Joy matures to a growth of 2 feet tall and wide, with succulent stems and leaves.

Autumn Joy can be planted in front of ornamental grasses in a bed as the two complement each other nicely.  Autumn joy will also attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

CARE

Sedum prefers moderately fertile, moist soil in full sun, but can take it drier. ’Autumn Joy’ can be tip pruned at 6 to 8 inches to shorten the plant, but this will also delay flowering.

PROPAGATION

Take softwood cuttings or root leaves in early summer. Start seed of hardy species in fall. Divide in spring.

PESTS AND DISEASES

The Autumn Joy sedum is fairly trouble free, but watch for mealybugs, scale insects, slugs, and snails, as well as bigger critters, including deer.
